According to the manufacturer's instructions for the AustriAlpin buckles (LINK), there is only one way to properly install the webbing in the adjustable buckle with a self-locking beam. The buckle is not symmetrical and has been structurally prepared for proper operation in one way - the adjustable end of the belt should be on the outside, interlaced as shown in the illustration and photos below.

We kindly ask you and we advise you to not monunt the webbing in a different way, as it may result that the pants fall off. If you carry weapons or equipment, loosening the belt in a public place may cause consternation or worster consequences.
